Overview\Goals:
Online quizzes offer teachers quick, paperless, and diagnostic assessment tools for use during lab sessions. These tools offer instant grading and item analysis. Online quiz tools are an essential part of a technology integration program that utilizes Internet skills and online research.

This session will offer participants experience in creating online quizzes using three free quiz making resources. Participants will examine the three Web based tools and compare features.

Equipment and materials needed:
Facilitator: Computer with: Internet access
Connection to projector
Word Processor
Streaming Video Account (United Streaming)
Participant: Computer with: Internet access and printing capability
Streaming Video Account (United Streaming)

Expectations:
Participants will leave with materials and resources
No partial credit for participation in the session.
Use positive cooperative learning skills during the session.
Expect to share and learn from others.
Ask for group expectations (trainer discretion), e.g. parking lot/question board.


Objectives:
Upon completion of the session participants will:
1. demonstrate knowledge of online quiz makers through discussion.
2. create one online quiz using each resource.
3. experience online quizzes from a student perspective by taking sample tests with each resource.
4. choose a preferred online test resource for future use.
5. create a lesson plan with an online quiz as a component
Procedure:
Pre-instructional By Facilitator in advance [90 Minutes]
Preparation: Facilitator will create an online quiz using each one of the resources featured in this workshop. Facilitator should create a fourth quiz for the opening session using any of the tools. These quizzes should be fun and high interest. Some possible topics:
Arkansas Trivia, Actors/Actresses and Movies, States and Capitals, Music Trivia, TV Trivia, Sports, Famous People, Cartoon Characters, Animals, Slogans, etc.
Recommended number of items on each quiz: 10
Facilitator will need Internet connection, Web sites opened, and projector set up.

Welcome and introductions
Ask participants for Name, level, subject

Discuss goals and objectives for session if appropriate at this time.

Warmup of first instructional activity: Independent and Guided [45 Minutes]
Distribute handouts.
Review the Agenda. Presenter creates the agenda based on time and break scheduling

Note: It would greatly expedite the utilization of Web resources if the presenter created a web-based list of links needed for this workshop so that participants could access the Web sites by point and click

Facilitator: Create an online quiz in advance of the workshop as a sample.
Have participants take the quiz and review the answers.

United Streaming Quiz Builder Independent work [90 min]
Facilitator should introduce the Quiz Builder feature at United Steaming.com.

Participants need a United Streaming account from their school. The facilitator should have a login ready for those without an account to use.
1. Participants take online quiz created by facilitator using United Streaming Quiz builder
2. Participants discuss the quiz or facilitator can give small prize or gag prize for best score.
3. Open Quiz Builder from United Streaming Site
4. Participants explore quiz library of available quizzes
5. Participants read User’s Guide to Quiz Builder
6. Each participant, or cooperative group with similar grade/subject interest, will build one test with United Streaming Quiz Builder and create a lesson plan to utilize the quiz
7. Volunteers will share their quiz to be taken by the group

Facilitator introduces Script-O Quiz Maker. Facilitator will have participants create teacher accounts. Facilitator may want to pre create some accounts for those without email or to expedite the process.

5. Each participant, or cooperative group with similar interests, will build one test with Script-O Quiz Builder and create a lesson plan to utilize the quiz
6. Volunteers will share their quiz to be taken by the group

Facilitator introduces Quiz Star. Facilitator will have participants create teacher accounts. Facilitator may want to pre create some accounts for those without email to expedite the process.

4. Participants will create an account and establish a class.
5. Each participant will build one test with Quiz Star or groups with same grade/subject interest can build a cooperative quiz
6. Participants will create a lesson plan to utilize the quiz created in this session
7. Volunteers will share their quiz to be taken by the group

Post session assessment [15min]
Participants will share experiences with the group.
Participants will be asked for impressions of each tool used in the workshop and asked to choose their favorite and explain why.
Closing [10 min]


Collect Evaluations and clean up room. Participants should take all printed material and the quizzes they made during the search sessions.
